We could all take in some exciting news amidst the global pandemic, which has claimed many lives in 2020. Although, we were expecting something like Creta as the suitable name for this new SUV, but Hyundai Nigeria decided to take us by surprise with another beautiful name for the model dubbed ‘Venue’. This new SUV is locally assembled within Nigeria and part of the first batch of such in the country this year.
Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, who happens to be the Brand Manager, recently disclosed that they got Semi Knocked Down (SKD) units for the model two months ago. Despite the delay caused since the emergence of the coronavirus on production process, the company resumed assembling the units immediately after the lifting off of prohibition on public activities. This assembly was done at their Gbagada plant in Lagos. He also revealed that social distancing precaution is taken into considering while assembling these units. By implication, only 2 cars were assembled at a time to avoid overcrowding. The new Hyundai Venue SUV is a tropical model designed specifically for Nigerian roads.
For those interested in buying this SUV in Nigeria, the company is offering 2 variants – Venue 1.61 Evolution GLS and Venue 1.61 Elegance GL. The new SUV promises modern driving and safety features such as Reverse Camera with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Parking Sensor, airbags for driver and other passengers, Immobilizer and the brand’s Smartsense technology which detects distance between the car and people ahead.
For the price of this locally assembled Hyundai Venue SUV, the company has set the retail price of the 1.61 Elegance GL at ₦10 million, while the other variant – Hyundai 1.61 Evolution GLS will go for ₦11.7 million. The prices of these variants according to Hyundai Nigeria are nothing compared to the series of exciting features customers will enjoy when driving this model. For its powertrain, it comes fitted with four-cylinder 1.6-liter engine with a generative output of 121 horsepower. The engine is mated to six-speed automatic or six-speed stick shift transmission.
