The wait is finally over, as Peugeot unveils the 308, its new family hatchback. The model is set to be released into European and other international markets, except the US. it offers a sporty look which would cast away any doubt held against the previous edition.
2021 Peugeot 308 exterior design
The Peugeot 308 is underpinned by the 3rd generation of Stellantis’s EMP2 platform, adding the length of the wheelbase, by 55 mm. Also, the automaker has reduced its height by 20 mm to give it a sleeker silhouette. At the front of the new 308 is the latest logo of a roaring lion of the company.
The 2021 308’s variants will offer LED headlights, complementing the vertical LED daytime running time, as standard. These headlights feature Peugeot Matrix LED technology offered on GT and GT Premium variants of the new 2021 Peugeot 308.
Taking a walk to the back of the new car, the LED taillights are visible with the Peugeot’s 3 claw rear light signature. Potential buyers will have the chance to buy the new models in different exterior colours such as Nera Black, Bianca White, Cumulus Grey, Vertigo Blue, Elixir Red, Pearlescent White and Olive Green.
2021 Peugeot 308 interior design
On the inside, the 2021 Peugeot 308 is well styled with the company’s i-Cockpit design, with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster featuring a 3D feature on GT models.
The interior design also promises a 10-inch infotainment screen, redesigned air vents and easy-to-configure i-toggles placed next to the screen at the center. The latest i-Connect infotainment system package offered on the new model allows for up to 8 profiles of drivers with a wireless screen mirroring function.
Driving and safety features
For the driving and safety features, it offers the Drive Assist pack, including adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, Semi-automatic lane change, Lane Keeping Assistance, Curve speed adaptation and Anticipated speed recommendation.Â
The optional features, which are standard on some variants, include the rear cross traffic alert, long-range blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree surround-view parking assistance with 4 cameras, HD 180-degree reversing camera with integrated cleaning nozzle, E-call emergency call function and heated windshield and steering wheel.
Engine
The French carmaker is prepared to sell the 2021 308 with 2 plug-in hybrid options. For the base model, the Hybrid 180 e-EAT8 variant will be offered with a combined 150 horsepower engine and 81 kW electric motor. The 308 base model will produce an all-electric range of 37 miles.Â
The Hybrid 225 e-EAT8, which is the flagship model, will offer a combined 180 horsepower with 81 kW motor, producing an all-electric range of 36 mile. The two mentioned variants will be equipped with 12.4 kWh lithium-ion batteries. The 2021 Peugeot 308 will be powered by 1.2-liter PureTECH 130 petrol engine and a 1.5-liter BlueDHi 130 diesel engine.
