The telecommunication giant Huawei has joined the league of carmakers on the planet now. Just recently, the company unveiled the product of its first successful collaboration with automotive brand Seres at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. The new model dubbed Seres SF5 will be sold and marketed throughout its store in China by Huawei.
This partnership between Huawei and Seres has made the new model SF5 to be equipped with two electric motors, offering 405kW and 820Nm, with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder powertrain serving as a range-extending generator.
From a report, the SF5 will offer a maximum electric-only range of 180km and travel over 1000km with the help of the range-extender engine. Since Huawei is the one in charge of distribution, most information about the car has been coming from them. The new model is believed to have the capacity to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in an impressive 4.7 secs.
The SF5 electric model will offer customers an infotainment system, designed to smoothly connect with a smartphone, as a well as voice integration. So far, we do not have information if the car can support Apple CarPlay.
The EV will feature Level Two semi-autonomous driving, with adaptive cruise control, road congestion assistance and active steering technology.
Richard Yu, who happens to be the Huawei Consumer Group CEO, said:
“This exciting announcement sets a precedent for both the consumer electronics industry and the new energy vehicle industry. In the future, we will not only provide leading smart car solutions to help partners build better intelligent vehicles, but also help them sell those vehicles through our retail network across China.”
The new Seres SF5 for the 2021 model year will be sold through Huawei stores in China at a starting price of ¥216,800.
